Client profile: the Streetwise Group

Founded in London in 1985, the Streetwise Group specialise in delivering parcels and packages around the UK and internationally.

With an annual turnover in excess of £5M, the group employs about 35 office staff and 100 drivers.

Streetwise operates out of four depots around the South East and has a particularly strong presence in Surrey and South West London.

The group maintains a UK-wide presence through its partnership with APC (the ‘Alternative Parcels Company’), a network of 125 independent courier businesses with a National Sortation Centre in the West Midlands.

APC partner businesses feed packages into the sortation centre and deliver from it the next day. Significant investment has been made in technology to manage the flow and sequencing of parcels and this has resulted in a remarkable 99.88% on-time delivery.

The APC business model is an interesting one in that each of the partner businesses is independently owned and typically ‘small enough to care’ about the service it provides, whilst together they provide a network that is ‘big enough to cope’.
